Dr. Robert Kattnig has a long history in agriculture and specifically the cattle industry. Dr. Kattnig's professional experience includes working as an extension agent, a commodities broker, a representative for the American Gelbveih Association and the owner/operator of a meat packing operation. Dr. Kattnig joined the U of A in 1991 as the Assistant Specialist in Livestock Production and is responsible for beef extension education including the Beef Quality Assurance Program and the ALIRT Emergency Response Program.
Research Interests:
Range livestock production management. Areas of Interest include range animal nutrition with emphasis on nutrient deficiencies; animal-forage interface regarding diet quality and quantity; efficiency of conversation of ingested forage into a marketable product; and indentifying optimum forage-livestock resources combinations into a sustainable enterprise.
